Reading Corps is a national literacy program designed to help more children become proficient readers by the end of third grade1. Reading Corps tutors are trained to provide daily, twenty-minute sessions 1-on-1 or in pairs with Kindergarten through 3rd grade students2. A staff person at the school, called an Internal Coach, completes Reading Corps training prior to the school year and supports the tutors throughout the year2. Member Duties : As a Reading Tutor, you will be placed at a local school where you will help students in kindergarten through third grade to become better readers1. You will meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide extra practice and build skills1. With training and on-site coaching, you will be prepared to help kids succeed1. The Summer Reading Tutor provides supplemental practice in a virtual setting to children Kindergarten through third grade to develop their reading skills2. The tutor will use scripted, evidence-based literacy strategies as guided by their coach and will conduct assessments to ensure each student is on track to read at grade level
