Job Title: Field Engineer
Department: Field Services
Reports to: Field Services Team Lead
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Field Engineer is responsible for onsite, remote, and phone support for our clients relating to servers, workstations, network components, and software. This includes performing proactive consulting, thinking, and strategic planning as it rel! ates to the client’s overall IT goals.
Required Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support for Microsoft server family, including Windows Server, Exchange, Terminal Services, etc.
- Support for desktop operating systems, including Windows 7, 8, etc.
- Configuration and support of server functions including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, etc.
- Service and support of network components: Internet connectivity, routers, switches, firewalls, and security
- Basic configuration and troubleshooting of Fortinet, Juniper, SonicWALL, and Cisco network devices
- Configuration and support of mobile devices
- Hardware installation and troubleshooting
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Keep clients informed of impending changes, outages, upgrades, and any other pertinent information

- Strive to mai! ntain and improve client satisfaction and loyalty

- Ability to manage time effectively
- Ability to serve as escalation point for internal staff
- Ability to escalate technical issues to senior level engineers
- Communicate to clients: keeping them informed of progress, notifying them of impending changes or agreed outages, etc.
- Responsible for entering time and expenses
- Work through a daily schedule
- Ability to work in an on-call rotation including after hours and weekends
- Complete training and professional development goals
- Remain current on IT trends and new technologies
- Vendor certifications from Microsoft (MCP, MCSA, MCSE), Cisco (CCENT, CCNA, CCNP), VMware (VCP), etc.
- Problem solving skills and creative thinking
- Root-cause analysis
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work effectively with little supervision
