Senior accounting role for large publicly held manufacturing company with full responsibility for operational consolidation of multiple sites., Position will also involve broad discretion for creating financial reporting infrastructure (systems, process, requirements, etc.) for all operational entities. Beyond accounti! ng focus, the successfully candidate will also have active participation in business critical initiatives, requiring strong business acumen and high leadership potential.
Specific accounting roles & responsibilities may involve independently evaluating, selecting and applying generally accepted accounting principles for financial reporting requirements. Conducts financial report analysis and/or audits. Provides daily work direction and has team leader responsibilities for major/complex projects.
- Coordinates and prepares the monthly consolidation of division operational results as well as division consolidated forecasts for reporting to parent company. Reviews and/or prepares appropriate consolidating and eliminating journal entries. Reviews and verifies the accuracy of classifications assigned to records.
- Researches and/or reviews analysis of unusual entries and/or entries or inter-company activity that do not balance. Reconciles/resolves! majority of entries. Forwards most complex/sensitive issues a! ppropriately with recommendations.
- Prepares financial reports and/or conducts/analyzes audits or reconciliations. Makes recommendations relative to the accounting for reserves, assets and expenditures.
- Exchanges information and resolves sensitive, complex issues with high level management/ professionals from outside organizations.
- Provides accounting related advice and counsel to internal employees. Leads cross functional teams for major/ complex financial and accounting related projects. Projects may involve multiple divisions or may be international in scope.
- Provides work direction/support to Staff and Junior Accountants and administrative personnel as required.
- Conducts special studies and analyzes or develops current accounting methods/practices/procedures and makes recommendations/decisions to change. Researches domestic and international accounting standards and guidelines.
- Maintains records of financial documents! with appropriate supporting material.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in business and accounting.
- Broad working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States of America (US GAAP). Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), International Accounting Standards (IAS), and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) desired, but not required
