Purpose: The Oak Ridge National Laborary (ORNL) is seeking to hire employees to fill temporary laborer positions in support of t! he Facilities Management Division for staffing needs which is expected to last up to 7 months.Major Duties/Responsibilities: Responsibilities for the position include cleaning and sterilization of rooms and laboratories, general housekeeping such as mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming of carpeted floors. Individuals hired to fill the temporary positions will also be expected to perform floor maintenance utilizing equipment such as buffers, polishers, etc. to complete assigned tasks as well as other tasks directed by management. Other general manual laborer work may also be assigned.Qualifications Required: Requires a High School diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of commercial/industrial or sanitation janitorial experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
Experience in general housekeeping, industrial janitorial and/or sanitation experience is desired. Incumbent must be able to follow specific to general oral or written instructions on! basic routines. The work frequently requires working with peo! ple and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB1. Perform tasks that involve physical requirements, including, but not limited to: standing, walking, lifting/carrying (up to 50 pounds), pushing/pulling (up to 50 pounds), climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, rapid work speed, crawling, reaching (high, low and level), finger movement and seeing near and far with depth perception and color vision.2.
Wear applicable protective equipment, including, but not limited to: eyes, hearing, arms, hands, fingers, legs, feet and toes.3. Work in varied working conditions, including, but not limited to: extreme cold and heat, frequent temperature changes and high humidity/dampness, heights, mechanical hazards, moving objects, exposure to burns, vehicle operation on company property, working with people, working alone, working with solvents, fumes, dusts, mists and working with cleaning agents! /wax.
