The University of Tennessee, College of Business Administration invites ap! plications and nominations for a tenure track, Assistant/Associate Professor position in its Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management. This person will be expected to have expertise in one of the functional areas of Supply Chain Management (logistics, operations or procurement) and be willing to work effectively in a department that places significant emphasis on cross-functional interaction and integration. The applicant’s research program should reflect the potential for thought leadership in the discipline and should demonstrate the potential to reinforce this perspective of cross-functional interaction and integration. Applicants also should have an appreciation for the role of their research in enhancing the department’s strength in demand and supply integration in a global context. Effective date of employment will be either August 1, 2014, or when filled. Note that this position is currently pending final approval from the Provost.

Qualificati! ons

Required: Ph.D. degree in Supply Chain Man! agement or related discipline with qualifications to be appointed at rank of assistant or associate professor.

Preferred: The ideal candidate will have had full-time work experience with responsibilities in a functional role related to Supply Chain Management, therefore possessing an appreciation for and awareness of business practice. In addition, the preferred candidate will possess the ability to work effectively as a contributing member of a faculty team, and the ability to establish a scholarly research record as evidenced by publications in top-tier journals in the Supply Chain Management field. Also strongly preferred is an appreciation for the interaction between logistics, operations management, procurement and marketing as well as other business functions, an interest in teaching in interdisciplinary degree programs, and the ability to teach in traditional degree programs (undergraduate and MBA programs), with an interest in teaching in Ph.D. and/o! r non-degree executive education programs.

The Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management is positioned within the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee. The Department has a vision of Demand/Supply Integration that integrates the mission and objectives of its programs in Marketing and Supply Chain Management within the College-wide context of Integrated Value Chain Management. The Department enjoys a strong and meaningful position within the College, and faculty members are active participants in College-wide programs and priorities. The University of Tennessee’s programs in both Marketing and Supply Chain Management have been ranked highly in national surveys. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

Duties/Responsibilities

Candidates will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission at undergraduate, MBA , and P! h.D. levels, and to have an interest in participating in executive education. Research requirements include a continuing record of publication in top-tier journals in Supply Chain Management and/or related fields, and an interest in working with other faculty members and graduate students on collaborative research.
