Characterization: Global lead for Coatings strategic account(s)

Title (external): Account Manager/Account Executive

Summary:
Primary focus is global account management for at least one of Eastman's key coatings customers; the position is based in the United States (location options TBD)

Dedicated to the coatings industry team in the Additives and Functional Products business organization, but appropriately represents all Eastman business

Requires collaborative teamwork with internal partners such as regional account teams, technical service, marketing, supply chain, and business management

Job Responsibilities

Manage the NA customer interface and coordinate the global account team for the strategic customer(s) to achieve Eastman's business goals

Maximize sales and profitability and develop a portfolio of growth and new business opportunities at the assigned account; document strategic and tactical plans via territory management plans, account strategies and opportunity management funnel

Align account strategy with the Coatings Industry strategy and business objectives by implementing effective selling strategies and tactics, especially for the negotiation of contracts, rebates and incentives; take advantage of all customer opportunities by working across Eastman BO's as necessary

Drive execution and alignment via strong leadership of the global account team (including channel strategy, customer and technical service, marketing, and technology)

Maximize Eastman's presence at key accounts through effective relationship management, including facilitating and driving cross-functional relationships (i.e. Marketing-to-Marketing function) across all levels of the account

Develop appropriate response to any customer issue through strong internal and external collaboration

Optimize business performance through the management and evaluation of pricing and terms

Develop annual business plans, supply and operations plans and long-term business plans by providing monthly volume and pricing forecasts

Educate key stakeholders on key trends and drivers to inform and influence business choices through effective and efficient communication practices

Acts as the "voice of the customer" to influence and shape decisions through situation assessment and recommendations

Balances between types of sales activities (prospecting, qualifying, covering the bases, closing) to ensure a consistent flow of new business

Builds relationships throughout Eastman and customer organizations to create a foundation for collaboration

Confronts and works to resolve tough issues

Demonstrates an understanding of the key factors that affect business and account performance (e.g., revenue, gross margin, working capital, value add)

Manages accounts towards objectives based on account plans that are consistent with customer and Eastman priorities

Presents customers with a compelling business case and value proposition that satisfies the needs, interests, and concerns of both Eastman and the customer

Synthesizes information from multiple sources to enhance understanding of customers' current and future needs

Thinks broadly about account needs, opportunities, potential solutions, and avenues for accessing and influencing key decision makers

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required (Physical Science, Finance or Engineering is preferred)

MBA preferred but not required

Required Travel:
The position requires approximately 50% travel (outside of Kingsport)

Valued Experience and Skills:
Knows Eastman's solvent and polymer technology platforms and products, specifically those marketed to the Coatings industry
