Role Summary
Responsible for successfully completing classroom training program, includi! ng general risk assessment principles, and methods to manage book of business results based on growth, persistency, and earnings. After classroom training, responsible for account level rate development, analyzing total case profitability, and conducting customer negotiations with Sales and/or other underwriting areas on low complexity book of business with direct supervision. Will continue in the trainee position until mentor oversight of work is no longer warranted based on management decision. Travel may be required during training..
Responsibilities
The Core Medical Underwriting program includes a mixture self-study and instructor-led training, providing education on risk-assessment principles and results-oriented book-of-business management, based on growth, persistency, earnings, and product and pricing knowledge.
The initial training includes six weeks of classroom time and three-to-six months of on-the-job experience. When you complete the! initial training program, you will be assigned to a market-sp! ecific team with responsibility for developing account-level rates, analyzing total case profitability, and building successful, productive relationships with matrix partners while being closely mentored and supervised by an experienced underwriter. As an Underwriting Senior Associate, you will continue to receive additional training and mentoring until oversight of work is no longer warranted, based on demonstrated performance..Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience strongly preferred
- Strong analytical skills
- High comfort level with math/numbers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
