More complete informations about this career opportunity kindly read the description below. “All Around This World" (http://www.AllAroundThisWorld.com), an energizing, interactive program that introduces small children (infants to 8 years old) and their parents/caregivers to world cultures through mutual exploration of global music, is seeking SELF-MOTIVATED, ENTHUSIASTIC MUSIC TEACHERS who are interested in SHARING WORLD MUSIC WITH LITTLE CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES. As an All Around This World teacher YOU WILL LICENSE THE PROGRAM MATERIALS and INDEPENDENTLY SET UP YOUR OWN CLASSES IN YOUR CITY. Licensees will attend a training with All Around This World founder Jay Sand in Philadelphia and will be prepared to initiate their own “All Around This World†classes soon thereafter.
REQUIREMENTS:
curiosity about world musics and cultures
love of young children and interest in acting as a global tourguide for them and their families
competency in playing guitar (or banjo/mandolin/ukelele etc.). You must be able to keep a beat and have a good ear for melody. Please don't apply to teach class if you don't play even basic guitar/banjo/mandolin/ukelele.
organizational ability necessary to develop and maintain a full roster of students
the time to commit to learning the All Around This World material and to building up successful classes (the ability to eventually commit to teaching several days a week)
the physical capacity to maintain energy over the course of several class periods in a row, as well as to demonstrate the movement/traditional dances that are part of the curriculum
ability to pass all legal background checks and child-abuse clearances
NOT REQUIRED:
vast foreknowledge of world musics and cultures (you just need curiosity about the world)
extraordinary abilities on guitar (you need confidence and competence, not mastery)
previous day-to-day experience working with children (though this certainly helps)
experience with global movement or dances (you'll learn; in class they're simple and fun)

TAKE NOTE: Being an All Around This World teacher isn't a full-time salaried position; the amount of money you earn will depend on how many classes you teach. Teachers license the All Around This World material but set up their own classes in their own cities and find their own students (with support and training from All Around This World, of course!). You will have to buy your own set of instruments to use while teaching (shaker eggs, rhythm sticks, etc.) and put in effort to get students to come to your classes. There is the possibility your All Around This World teaching could turn into a full time job, one that may even entail coordinating several locations and working with All Around This World to hire teachers to teach at those locations, but if a full time job is what you need immediately, becoming a licensed AATW teacher isn't the right thing for you.
