HR Representative II

Under general direction, reviews and manages deadline driven HR Business Support processes, such as FMLA, Unemployment claims, Pre-Employment Background Checks, and Form I-9 processing.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
Receiving and reviewing FMLA requests for all University and Medical Center employees; obtains completed request forms, physician certification or re-certification forms, and return to work releases; determines employee qualification status; corresponds with requestors and supervisors and maintains contact throughout the process; serves as the point of contact for all FMLA questions. Maintains FMLA utilization within existing systems and updates as needed.
Responds to notifications from the federal Department of Labor regarding terminated employees who are filing unemployment claims; interacts with human resources personnel and reviews personnel file information to obtain relevant details; attends hearings for the claims that are appealed.
Serve as primary resource for handling, and coordinating of I-9 process (domestic and international), documentation and compliance requirements for all University employees.
Assist with flow and continuity of customer service operations for HR Express and Customer Service teams.
Support processing of pre-employment background checks including criminal, education, employment, MVR, credit, fingerprinting, etc.
Gathers information, produces charts and graphs, and coordinates process for monthly and quarterly departmental reporting.
Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education, Skills and/or Experience
Working knowledge and experience with FMLA, TMLA laws and processing of claims
Managing highly confidential information, records and files
Knowledge of Unemployment laws and claims processing
General knowledge of FCRA requirements and Form I-9 Regulations
Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office, especially Outlook
Ability to interact and collaborate with individuals at all levels within the organization
Excellent communication skills
Organized and detail oriented
Strong report preparation skills
Ability to work with tight deadlines
Highly developed analytical skills
Ability to learn and develop within the position
Basic Qualifications
This position requires an Associate's degree and 12 months of experience or the equivalent.
