Responsibilities
We! are seeking a well-organized MS SQL Server DBA consultant to ! provide operational and development database review and optimization. This DBA resource will audit and document current systems, provide recommendations for optimization, and assist with optimization implementation. Responsibilities include:
- Tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests
- Participating in design of database architecture for current and future products
- Responding to database related alerts and escalations
- Creating and executing a project plan for assigned projects and work effectively in the project management framework
- Working with research and development teams to implement strategic solutions
- Actively participating in a high-energy development environment
- Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
- Identifying and troubleshooting SQL Ser! ver related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention
- Writing and troubleshooting SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)
- Networking with documentation and testing teams to create processes and procedures
Requirements
- Familiarity with windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components.
- 3+ years of experience in database development and support of MS SQL Server environments
- Knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs, system sprocs)
- Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server
- Proven experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mi! rroring, Replication and High Availability strategies for MS SQL enviro! nments
- Experience implementing operational solutions with SQL Server 2008
- Experience in creating database architecture with associated schema as part of a software design process
- Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching.
- Service-oriented mentality with a high sense of ownership of the projects, problems and requests assigned during the contracted period
- Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to articulate technical solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Self-motivation and goal-oriented achievement
- Ability to multi-tasking and work with a variety of people
- Knowledge and experience with SQL Server 2012 is preferred
- Ability to work out of our corporate office in Chattanooga, Tenn.
