Nissan is currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill an opening for an Automotive Body Assembly Process Engineer, Engineering Career Ladder 4 at our Smyrna, TN automotive manufacturing facility working with our Body Closures and Metal Line.
Description:
- Perform a variety of engineering tasks to maintain, impr! ove, and support assembly and validation of manufacturing proc! esses, running change, and minor model change levels.
- Improve warranty and internal plant KPIs while maintaining or reducing production cost without jeopardy to safety, ergonomics, or production schedules.
- Support daily production process and quality investigation concerns for assigned areas.
- Use problem solving skills to determine solutions to chronic or emerging concerns based on warranty data or internal plant KPIs.
- Track, trial, and adopt minor model changes, running design change, part specification changes, process changes, and tooling and equipment changes.
- Develop and maintain a working relationship with production, maintenance and quality to include involvement in cross functional work groups/problem solving teams.
- Maintain process sheets for all production processes in area of assignment.
- Study CMM, gage, and optical measurement data to determine process capability and tool, jig, and fixtures adjustmen! ts required to optimize vehicle fit and quality.
- Requires a bachelorâs degree in engineering or engineering technology with a minimum of 3 years experience in high volume manufacturing
- Must be a self-motivated individual with good written and verbal communication skills
- Must have good understanding of root cause analysis, problem solving techniques and process control management for quality issue resolution
- Must have the ability to understand part drawings and assembly data
- Experience with sheet metal assembly fixtures and spot welding is a requirement
- Automotive OEM body shop (body in white) experience is a definite plus
- Presentations, maintenance of process sheets, safety audits, functional trial coordination, design change accountability, root cause analysis and problem solving, cross-functional team participation, daily floor support and process management, varia! tion management including equipment, part quality, and process.
