Job Summary
Technicians are the key to keeping our business rolling! That is why Waste Management, an industry leader in waste and environmental solutions, is seeking motivated, skilled heavy-duty Technician Assistants to work in our shops. Our technicians enjoy a professional, clean, and well-organized work environment that supports our team atmosphere. Working under close supervision, a Waste Management technician assistant performs minor repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections and diagnostic tests on a variety of vehicles and equipment. Our technicians utilize computer diagnostics and work with fleet maintenance software programs to document part usage, account for repair time, and more.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The team atmosphere we mentioned above is critical to the success of our shops! Our technicians work closely with operations, and may be called upon to make road calls and assist in emergency situations on a ro! ute. Waste Management technicians pride themselves on doing th! e work right the first time and we look for this same sense of personal ownership of work when considering new members for our team. We also offer on-the-job training and encourage continuous learning and higher education to keep skills up to date.
There may be the opportunity for overtime, as well as weekend and/or holiday work. Since our technicians are working with heavy equipment in a shop environment, it is required that they be able to push, pull, drag, and lift items up to 50 pounds, and occasionally must work at shoulder level with equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
