Under general supervision conducts work in process and final product inspection to ensure conformity to customer specifications. Records findings, prepares final rep! orts and initiates action for problem resolution.
II. Essential Duties and Functions
- Performs Process Capability Value (Cpk) studies.
- Identifies problem parts and documents problems.
- Measures dimensions and clearances of components utilizing calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other precision measuring equipment.
- Randomly sample parts utilizing statistical sampling procedures.
- Verifies accuracy of production gauges and instruments.
- Reads blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications..
- Effectively interacts with all levels of floor production personnel.
- Manages project by reviewing status reports and modifies schedules as necessary. Prepares project reports for management and customers.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills to complete all required inspections.
- Must have t! he ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy on quality c! ontrol issues.
- Must have advanced blueprint-reading skills.
- Must be proficient and comfortable with the use of computers and basic software.
II a. Physical Demands
- Under normal conditions, this position requires prolonged periods of sitting while operating computers and other office equipment.
- Required to spend the vast majority of shift standing and walking while conducting product inspection. Inspection process requires employee to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, squat, and bend.
- Employee may be required to lift/manipulate large, bulky parts to perform inspection. Employee may occasionally be required to lift as much as 55 lbs. Individually or more with the aid of a co-worker or mechanical lifting device.
