We are looking for an Actuarial Manager to join our team in Nashville ! Utilizing independent judgment and discretion, this position initiate! s, organizes, directs and analyzes actuarial research and develops actuarial assumptions, develops and maintains profit studies, pricing strategies and policies.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Works closely with Product Management to prepare financial forecasts to achieve profitability and growth goals.
- Coordinates actuarial analyses, and communicates to product areas, after consultation with an actuary, the results of those analyses and their implications for the product line.
- Provides actuarial information to produce revenue forecasts and financial reports.
- Provide actuarial analysis for company products required to support the Actuarial department in risk analysis, predictive modeling, reserve development and bid preparation.
- Using raw data, applies appropriate analytical tools to achieve modeling and analytical goals and objectives.
- Provides analysis from data to support what is working and recommen! d areas of improvement.
- Effectively communicates with! internal corporate departments, regional organizations, and external vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of actuarial statistics/assumptions used for ratemaking, loss reserving and forecasting.
- Familiar with internal and external statistical plans and sources of data, and the use of spreadsheet applications.
- Aware of emerging issues affecting product lines.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Position usually requires 6 - 8 years of actuarial experience and attainment of Fellowship (FSA) designation or the equivalent in education and work experience.
- Bachelor degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Epidemiology or related field, or equivalent years of progressive experience.
- Three years experience in Managed Health Care or insurance field with 2 years in claims/healthcare experience or the equivalent in education and work experience.
- Preferr! ed technical requirements:
o multidimensional database/OLAP Analysis & Design,
o SAS,
o Access,
o Crystal Reports,
o Microstrategy,
o DRG/APC Encoder.
- Proficiency at problem solving quickly and efficiently while adapting to a dynamic and challenging work environment.
- Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills. .
